Labradoodles are social, loving and at their happiest when they are with their humans, and this is the life we want for our breeding boys and girls. Living with their forever families allows them to thrive, having the best life getting out and about experiencing everyday life, lots of quality time and cuddles with their family enabling them to be well rounded, confident, content, and happy dogs. Happy, healthy, confident and social dogs make happy, social and confident puppies so it is a win win for us, the Guardian Family and most importantly of all, our breeding boys and girls.
To be a good breeder of quality dogs we need to keep, evaluate, and add quality bloodlines into our breeding program. We like to keep a few of our “pick” puppies to monitor their growth and development. After completing our health testing (DNA, Eye, Hip & Elbow scoring) and temperament testing some will eventually fit into our breeding program.
While we would love to keep everyone of our boys and girls and as hard as it is to part with them, we just cannot give each boy or girl the love and attention they need and more importantly, that they deserve. This is what makes the Guardian Program so valuable.
We are here 24/7 to fully support our guardian families as much as they would like. Our home is like a home away from home for the dogs as they can have their holidays with us or just come for a catch up and a play on a regular basis.
If you become a guardian family the dog is essentially your pet but we own breeding rights to them.
For the boys - we are tending to collect and freeze semen around 14 - 16 months of age or if not sooner and then he is neutered. This is all at our expense.
For the girls - providing she is a healthy and enjoys being a mum we would require 1- 2 litters from her. She would come back to stay with us to have and raise her puppies for around 42-49 days. Our guardian puppies are not free, we are happy to discuss our pricing and rebates with you directly.
Our guardian families are fully included in the raising of the puppies and can visit whenever they wish to get puppy cuddles.
Who Qualifies As a Guardian Family?
- We are very selective of who we choose to become a guardian family. Our primary concern is that our dogs go into safe homes where they will be well taken care and loved as a family member.
- We will make a home visit prior to acceptance.
- Must NOT own other entire dogs. Number of other dogs living in the household is viewed by each individual application.
- Guardian families for the girls ideally will live within a 2 hour drive and the boys within 3 hours of our homes in Auckland South.
- They must be in a home where they are not able to escape, property must be fully fenced. (We do not condone the use of electric dog boundary fencing.)
- All training/raising/caring must be via force free training methods.
- We expect the dog to be a part of the family and sleep inside.
- We have a close relationship with our guardian families so you must be willing to catch up with us on a regular basis.
- This is not a program for someone who wants to be a breeder, but a guardian family in order to provide good forever homes for our dogs.

We have loved being part of the Tui Ridge family and a guardian for Havana.
We did a lot of research before choosing Tui Ridge and were very pleased with their values, the testing and how their puppies are raised. Our first pet dog has had a lot of genetic issues (including blindness and leg issues) so we wanted to make sure we found a breeder who did testing and who cared about their dogs.
When we first got Havana we were given so much support and information so it made having a new puppy so much easier.
When Havana was at Tui Ridge having her litter we were always kept fully updated, got loads of photos and videos daily knew she was happy and being well looked after. We enjoyed visiting the pups weekly and seeing them grow.
Tui Ridge puts so much knowledge, love and time into the puppies from day 1. Through puppy culture the puppies learn skills through sounds, sights and different surfaces. This means by the time they are ready to go to homes they are well rounded and have the best possible start with crate training and toilet training well started. We have absolutely loved having Havana and our journey with Tui Ridge and would highly recommend. Jennie & Chris (Havana's servants :-)
